CHAPTER 12

Schedules: Output

EFFECTIVE PROGRESS REPORTING

Information from a project schedule or schedule outputs, provides some of the most important tools with which to manage a project. The schedule provides a platform from where unique reports can be generated quickly by the Project Planner and distributed to the Project Manager and other responsible people to enable them to assess the progress, and identify problem areas. Without these tools, a Project Manager’s management information is seriously diminished, since he will not know where to put his focus, which processes he must give precedence to, and when to move and increase resources. This information in the schedule is at hand, and is updated as progress updates are done, resulting in the information always being current. There are a large number of reports and relevant information that can be generated from the project schedule.
